I want my MTV: a television production student’s perspective

I have been a member of Milton Television (MTV) for the past two years. I have gained so much from being a part of this organization. MTV has been a creative, fun class to express my ideas on a daily basis. It is also something that the entire student body can feel like they are a part of. I have learned many skills I would have never acquired if it wasn’t for this class; how an entire broadcasting production works; from anchoring live, to the technical work of the audio and lighting for the shows, to planning and producing videos and graphics. I could have never learned these things on my own, but thanks to the support of our school, all of the students involved have had the opportunity to expand their technological knowledge.

For the students who plan to take the broadcasting path for their future (like myself) we have benefited greatly from this program. We have learned the skills needed to get started on the right foot into our future. Over this past year our program has increasingly grown. With new software programs, cameras, and a few new computers, we are working harder than ever to get the most out of the things that have been so greatly provided to us. We plan to do great things this year! We will be attending the FSPA district 1 Journalism workshop and then continuing onto the FSPA state competition in the spring. Our school has never been recognized in this area, so we are hoping to be the first to make that happen for the pride of Milton High School. One of the best decisions I have made through my high school career was choosing to be a part of the MTV crew. I can only hope many students after me make this same decision. Your life will be forever impacted, and I truly mean that.
