Milton is known for where the “good living flows” in Northwest Florida and on Dec. 30 the city was recognized for its efforts to continue its efforts.

Charles Corley, Secretary of the Department of Elder Affairs for the State of Florida, congratulated Milton Mayor Guy Thompson and the city for an action taken by the Milton City Council during it’s December meeting.

The council adopted a resolution enabling the city to join the Department of Elder Affairs Communities for a Lifetime initiative.

This statewide initiative is to help communities across the state of Florida to become better places for elders by providing all residents the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of communities in the state such as Milton.

To help make this effort possible the Department of Elder Affairs Communities for a Lifetime initiative will help provide Milton with the technical assistance and resources needed to benefit all of the city’s residents.

Milton has taken a long standing effort to help its elder citizens in the community with senior events at the Milton Community Center, supporting the Santa Rosa County Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and the Senior Expo held annually at the Milton Community Center just to name a few.
