Join Escambia and Santa Rosa UF/IFAS Extension agents to learn more about the basics of growing fish and plants together.  The 2014 Aquaponics 101 workshop will be held Feb. 27 at the West Florida Research and Education Center, 4253 Experiment Road, Hwy 182 in Jay from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Registration cost is $45, which includes lunch and the opportunity to build an aquaponics system. To register go to ap2014.eventbrite.com.

Aquaponics is an exciting system where fish and plants grow in harmony. An aquaponic system can be a fun project for the home gardener but may also become a successful farming venture. This workshop will focus on the basics of aquaponics production.

Jeremy Pickens, an Auburn University Ph.D. candidate will present information on plants, fish and aquaponics systems. For information contact Blake Thaxton, at (850)623-3868 or bthaxton@ufl.edu or Chris Verlinde, (850)623-3868 or chrismv@ufl.edu
