Truly Spokin’ Bicycle Company, happily situated next to the Blackwater Heritage Trail in Milton offers more than just great bicycles. Owner Mark Woolson, an avid cyclist  for most of his life said he got into the business of selling and repairing bicycles to rid himself of a stressful corporate job.

“I began thinking about changing my lifestyle when I realized I was cycling more and more to relieve stress,” he said. He purchased the business (available at two locations Milton and Pensacola) from its former owner in 2013. He said the store is in a great location for two reasons: the Blackwater Heritage Trail and being in the city.

Open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 8 to 5 p.m., Wednesdays 8 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 to 4 p.m.  Phone 850-983-2488

“The trail is a gateway to the forest. Some of the best roads to ride, maybe even in Florida and Alabama is right here in the Milton area. The slight elevation changes is surprising plus the rural areas…customers come from Daphne, Mobile, Okaloosa and Destin to come to the store and ride the trail,” said Woolson. “I love the location. I’m from a small town in Wisconsin. I enjoy the hometown feel in Milton. It’s small, the people are personable and I have a great relationship with my customers.”

Overall, he said, cyclists are fun people to work with. “Most cyclists are the Type A personalities. My customers are health conscience, hard working people. Some of them are cycling addicts but not all.”

Truly Spokin’ in Milton offers a variety of bikes for sale, service, rentals, bike parts and accessories, apparel and information about group rides and seminars/clinics. “I’ve built custom bikes for a few of my customers,” he said. “A great part of owning the store is the interaction I have with the customers. I work with a diverse group of cyclists. People love riding their bikes. From people who can barely scrape the money for a patch to people who have a ‘sky’s the limit’ budget where money is no object…they’re all great people.”

  1. Mark is a really great guy and store owner who always makes time for his customers. I’ve heard horror stories about bike shops in major cities where repairs take over a week and the staff are pushy and take advantage of people. Mark is the opposite type who will take your bike right away and get to work on it while showing you exactly what is needed. He and his staff are all super friendly and helpful.
