Anytime Fitness in Milton seems to be in a constant state of growth, said owners Todd and Contressa Adamson. The couple decided to change their corporate lifestyle to become entrepreneurs and found the city of Milton to be the best place to begin their dream.
“We began looking in Navarre and Mary Esther but the best place was Milton because of real estate, great demographics and the least competition,” said Todd, “It was a no brainer.” The Adamsons agreed on Anytime Fitness because they were impressed the corporation ranked the number one rated franchise 4 years in a row and ranked number 1 in the fitness industry.
They opened the gym in 2013 at 6568 Caroline Street at Gateway Plaza in Milton and have grown to 2,300 members and increased their footprint from 8,000 square foot to 12,000 shortly after. Todd said word of mouth has been the best advertising because their members are telling their friends and family. “We’ve had grandparents, parents and grandchildren with memberships. We also work to serve the military community with a no hassle military clause to help when they are deployed or receive orders.”
Consistent growth can be good problem to have as their memberships have grown so quickly. “It’s been a whirlwind since day one. We learned starting out an average gym is around 750 members. A good gym has 1,000 as a benchmark. We met that goal within 8 months. People love having a gym open 24 hours per day,” Contressa said, “and people don’t feel crowded. They enjoy seeing friends and encouraging one another.”
The business is part of the community. Anytime Fitness Milton won the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce 2014 Business of the Year award and consistently gives back to the community by supporting local organizations and donating equipment to Milton High School’s athletic program.
Meeting the needs of their members is on their minds regularly. Business has been good, Todd said but most importantly, highlighting their member’s success is something they do not take lightly. They post their member’s major accomplishments by awarding a member of the month. They both agree it’s hard to choose. “There are so many members we don’t see who come to the gym during the early morning hours. We appreciate when we hear their stories. It means a lot to us to see how the gym is helping,” said Todd.
They aren’t a gym that just counts members.
“We check on our members regularly,” said Contressa. “We want our members to use their membership because healthier members mean a healthier community.”
