Fruit tree classes for homeowners

Experts from the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Santa Rosa County Extension Office will offer a free class on fruit trees for the homeowner on two days at two locations:

March 10 – 10 a.m. Santa Rosa County UF/IFAS Extension Office 6263 Dogwood Drive, Milton

March 17 – 10 a.m. Gulf Breeze Public Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive, Gulf Breeze

Florida Master Gardener Sam Greendorfer will teach students how harvesting fresh fruit from backyard trees can be a very satisfying experience. Students will learn which are the best fruit trees for this area, the importance of both chill hours and cold hardiness as it pertains to citrus and deciduous fruit, proper pruning and pest management.
