Nixon’s celebrates 40 years of business September 8 and 9

An article published in the early 80s shows Nixon’s daughter Whitney in the first grade.

Nixon’s is celebrating their 40th anniversary and customers will benefit from the special event on September 8 and 9.

Brenda Nixon, owner of Nixon’s said she appreciates all of her long term customers who started shopping at her business 40 years ago.She’s decided to do a little “giving back” by having a 40 percent sale. Nixon said there will be refreshments and drawings as well.

Located at 5061 Dogwood Drive, Milton, Florida, Nixon’s is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. During prom season months: Jan, Feb, March, April, May, the store’s Saturday hours are extended to 5:30 p.m. Visit their website at  and Facebook page at

The tee shirt in the photo is a throwback to 1977 when at Brenda’s first store, Jeans for Guys and Gals, you could get the shirt for .99 cents with a Levi purchase.

It’s been a blessing to be in business in Milton, she said. Brenda reminisced about when she and her husband started out all those years ago. She was 21 years old when she and her husband, then fiancé Ed Nixon, opened their first store, Jeans for Guys and Gals, in August of 1977. Twelve years later she become a women’s boutique and changed the name to simply, Nixon’s.

Nixon is originally from Jay, Florida and is happy she and Ed kept the business growing for 40 years. “Ed has always been in banking.

When we met and got engaged, his plan was to stay in Jay only for a couple of years. But things changed, we opened our store and it’s good.

We love our location. We love Milton. I’m glad we did this. I’m happy we stayed.”
