October Senior Spotlight Michelle Ferguson

Published on October 10, 2017 with 1 Comment

Michelle Ferguson said she loves to take part in the senior program at the Guy Thompson Community Center every week. She said it comes naturally as it is both enjoyable and rewarding. She said volunteering with seniors is part of who she is with her experience with working with assisted living. She is one of the youngest seniors involved in the program but says she fits in just fine.
“We’re all friends here,” she said.

Michelle said she was looking for something to occupy her time when she moved to Milton a while back. She now has an empty nest. Originally from New Orleans, she lived in Gulf Breeze and in Georgia for a good portion of her life, she said she is happy she and her husband live in Milton. “I’m happy to be back on the Gulf Coast,” she said.

“I enjoy playing Bingo and helping out with the dances,” she said, “And I help where I can.”

Joe Paschal, senior program coordinator said Michelle started volunteering with the senior program almost immediately after she began participating about a year ago.

“Michelle helps with Bingo and does most of the shopping, helps with all the special events. Paschal said she chaired the Beach Party Dance and volunteers whenever she sees any need or is asked to help with any of the senior programs

“Michelle also serves on our Senior Activity Committee and does so much more. We’re proud to nominate her for our senior spotlight! She is a huge asset to the senior participants as well as to the staff,” said Paschal.

  1. Michelle, I’m glad you are doing well. Please come join Milton’s Poet Laureate in Room 113 of the Guy Thompson Community Center every Tuesday from 3:45-5:45 where some dozen teenagers and half dozen adults transform their feeling and thoughts into poetry.
