While the players are preparing to take to the gridiron, some of the team’s biggest supporters – the cheerleaders – have been getting ready for the upcoming season as well.
For the past week Milton High School’s varsity squad has been volunteering at the Milton Community Center to teach their younger counterparts the basics of cheerleading and the cheers themselves.
Over 100 girls ages 5 to 14 have been participating in the week-long camp, which will culminate later this year when the girls cheer at an upcoming Milton High School football game.
Just a few of the things taught at the camp besides some of the basics are the cheers the high school varsity does at the Panthers’ football games on Friday night with the Mighty Black and Gold Band as well as other long standing traditional cheers.
Football season for the Panthers will get underway on Aug. 31 with the start of the regular GCYSA season.
