The East Gate hours of operation at Naval Air Station Whiting Field have been reduced to 5-8 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gates will not be open on weekends or holidays.
The modified hours will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
“I understand this is inconvenient for a lot of people. This isn’t a choice anyone wanted to make, but in the current operational and financial environment we need to be prepared to sacrifice some of the conveniences we took for granted. The hours of operation were chosen based on the times of greatest usage to limit the impact as much as possible,” said Capt. Matthew Coughlin, NAS Whiting Field commanding officer.
The new hours took effect Nov. 18 with a one-hour extension to the morning hours added Nov. 21.
