bands4May 2nd will kick off the third annual Bands on the Blackwater concert series in historic downtown Milton.

The nine week concert series will feature some of the best local musical talent performing weekly in May to the end of June.

After a big 2013 with nine concerts, the City of Milton Downtown Redevelopment Advisory Board and the Milton Parks Department has grown the event yet again with concerts running from 6 -8:30 p.m..

“We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who turned out last year,” said Milton Parks and Recreation Director John Norton. “Another amazing thing was the number of people who wanted us to extend the concerts.”

Bands on the Blackwater will once again be held along South Willing St. where it was last year so bring your lawn chair or enjoy the concert from the comfort and convience of your boat on the Blackwater River.

“People can bring their coolers and lawn chairs and enjoy the concerts near the stage or set up on the Riverwalk overlooking the Blackwater River.”

Some groups like Not Quite Fab – a Beatles tribute band – and the CrossTown Band will be returning while others will be making their first appearance at Bands on the Blackwater.

“We have a wide variety when you look at the acts from a Beatles cover band to southern rock,” said Norton.  “Most groups are proven acts that have played at places like Bands on the Beach in Pensacola.”

According to Norton food and beverages will be available for purchase and personal coolers are permitted.
