Monday, May 26, Memorial Day was celebrated across Santa Rosa County as well as the United States.
Santa Rosa County hosted its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Plaza with guests including Congressman Jeff Miller.
The keynote speaker for the day was Capt. Maureen O’Hara Padden, the commanding officer of Naval Hospital Pensacola.
Also proclamations were read by Milton Mayor Guy Thompson as well as Santa Rosa County Commissioner Bob Cole.
Various service organizations placed wreaths inside the Veterans Memorial Plaza, which is located on South Willing St. in Milton and a wreath will be place afloat on the Blackwater River by the Fleet Reserve Association.
