You have four chances remaining to register for the Milton Riverwalk Run 5K set for Oct. 4 in historic downtown Milton.

You can register in person at the following locations:

  • Sept. 29th at Academy Sports in Pensacola at University Shoppes from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Oct. 1st at Anytime Fitness in Milton on Highway 90 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Oct. 2nd at the Milton Community Center located at 6629 Byrom Street from 3 to 5 p.m. during early race packet pickup
  • Oct. 4th at the Riverwalk Run 5K prior to the start of the race.

You still have until 7 a.m. on Sept. 29 to register online at www.riverwalkrun5k.com, but in case you do not make it in time you have four more opportunities to register in person.

Registration fee includes a T-shirt, race bag to the first 350 people to pick up their packet, as well as post-race refreshments provided by Winn Dixie and other sponsors.

Race day registration is $20 without a shirt or $25 with a shirt at the Riverwalk Pavilion on S. Willing St. next to the Santa Rosa County Veteran’s Memorial Plaza, but shirts at this time will not be guaranteed.

Strollers are welcome in the Riverwalk Run 5K, but there may be some areas along the course that are difficult to get through with one, especially the section along the Riverwalk Boardwalk which can be a little bumpy and narrow at the entrance and exit.

Besides medals and awards being presented following the race as much as $1,000 could be given away.

Cash prizes will be awarded if someone breaks the men’s record of 15:46 set by Nate Crum in 2011, if someone breaks the women’s record time of 20:12 set last year by Susan Smith, and then some lucky runner or walker could earn $250 if their bib number is selected and present to win.

Finally students and teachers can help their high, middle, or elementary school win $250.

Runners and walkers can help their respective school earn a $250 prize for the most individuals participating. When students or teachers register they can list their school, Pace, Milton, Central, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Hobbs Middle, or any other school in the tri-county area.

“Regardless of skill level, we want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to win,” said Katie Nichols, event director.

You not only have to participate, but you must register as well.

But the key for your chance to win is that you have to register and be present after the race.

Speaking of after the race, the CrossTown Band will be performing a special edition of Bands on the Blackwater at 5:30 p.m.

So even if you don’t run, you can come to historic downtown Milton and listen to the sounds of the CrossTown Band near the corner of Elmira and Pine Streets.
