Youth basketball registrations are currently underway

The City of Milton is now accepting signups for basketball for the following grades K-2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, as well as 7 and 8.

Registration will continue through Dec. 5 or when the league reaches the maximum capacity of players. The registration fee is $85 per child. `

“We are excited about the upcoming season,” said Robert Arnold, the Recreation and Activities Coordinator with the City of Milton Parks and Recreation Department. “We have a great program developing with the City of Milton and are looking to build on what was started last year.

“Last year we were able to have two all-girls leagues featuring a total of eight teams. This year we hope to have more.”

Sign-ups are Monday—Friday from 8 a.m. —8 p.m. at The Guy Thompson Community Center, formerly known as the Milton Community Center.

Players will be selected to their respective teams by a draft process.

Drafts will be held on the following dates:

  • Dec. 9 Third and fourth grade boys at 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 9 Fifth and sixth grade boys at 7 p.m.
  • Dec. 11 Second through fourth grade girls at 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 11 Fifth through eighth  grade girls at 7 p.m.
  • Dec. 12 Kindergarten through second grade boys at 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 12 Seventh and eighth grade boys at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to the draft players will work out in a small skills program where the coaches will watch.

Practices will be begin the week of Dec. 15, with the season getting underway in January.

All games will be played at the Guy Thompson Community Center.
