Casey Powell’s earliest memories include playing at Carpenter’s Park and visiting the Milton Fire Department. He said although he’d never considered himself a politician, running for office this year was his way of giving back to his community.
“I love having the opportunity to live in the city and raise my children. I enjoy being involved with coaching at the community center and volunteering with the youth. By doing so, I have had the pleasure of getting to know parents and children involved in the sports program. It’s a big deal to form that sense of community. It gives us a sense of pride in the city,” he said.
The Blackwater River is a vital asset to our city, he said. “I love the fact we have this river, a natural resource to enjoy. I enjoy fishing, walking on the boardwalk. Most people do. It’s a big deal.”
Growth is something he is looking forward to seeing in the city. “We want to be the focal point. We want people to see the distinction of the city of Milton, especially those who are considering Santa Rosa County as a home. We want the natural resources we have to be a spotlight.
“We have a plan to build on and move forward. The future of the city is amazing. It can only get better,” said Powell.
Powell is married to wife Cassie and has 3 children.
