Landscape Department Head Lee Willingham said he was approached this week by an investment group who is in discussions with the city of Destin to implement a roadway beautification and maintenance project similar to the city’s plan.

Willingham said, “They asked how we did it and they want to do the same thing. They asked about the Florida Department of Transportation beautification grant. They were interested in our process because they noticed Milton’s recent improvements.”

He went on to say he explained in detail the process and the amount of maintenance work it takes to maintain Highway 90 and Dogwood Drive. “Constant irrigation, insecticides, fertilization and not to mention the 1500 bales of straw. People just see the end result.”

Interim City Manager Randy Jorgenson told the Milton City Council about the conversation and said, “Everybody wants to be like Destin, Destin wants to be like Milton.”
